What a visit leaves behind
The page is built to keep the footprint small. It stores no account, sets no tracking cookie, and the only thing it keeps is the log of a request, which is what every web server keeps.
What is kept
- A request log, the same one any web server keeps. It is the address that asked for a page and the time, and it is the only record of a visit that does not involve logging in.
- The fonts and the icons, which are served from the same host and set no cookie of their own.
What is not kept
- No account. There is no registration on this page, so there is no name, no address and no balance to lose.
- No tracking cookie. The page does not set one, and the scripts it runs are the ones it serves itself, not a third party’s.
- No analytics by default. The counter, where there is one, is a single request that carries no identifier, and it is the only outbound call the page makes.
The honest limit
The page is only as private as the network it sits on. It is behind a reverse proxy for the certificate, and the proxy sees the requests the way any proxy does. The onion layer is the protection that matters for the market, and this page is the part of the trip that is not on it, which is the tradeoff of being findable in a search box.
